Overview

In this position, the successful candidate will perform the following job responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Manage/Supervise Traffic & Shipping departments.
  • Budget Management - Responsible for meeting department budget targets, transportation & warehouse cost management budgets. Audit all expenses and find cost effective solutions.
  • As the Shipping Manager, develop, plan, document completion, manage daily activity and execute the strategy for multiple distribution and shipping operations in support of the company goals.
  • Lead a team of supervisors, coordinators and loaders to success. Have a mission statement to support all company goals and objectives through the accurate processes and finish good shipments.
  • Leads the Traffic & Shipping Teams in executing best practices and measuring performance through agreed upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Continuous improvement, writing/updating work instructions, providing performance metrics, claim management making recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations
  • Monitors and controls non-compliance fines with Retailers. Leads this task with communicating with all departments within the company and establishing corrective action plans.
  • Lean Six Sigma/6S Methodologies - Participates actively in Lean initiatives, including 6S and continuous improvement activities.
  • Participates and encourages participation in the “Stop” safety program as it promotes a safer work environment. Train team to ensure all safety rules are adhered to and proper safety equipment is worn and used as required.
  • Employee Relations – performance management, coaching, training and guiding associates in keeping with all Rug Doctor Values.
  • Ensure compliance with the Department of Transportation regulations and all State and Federal weight limit requirements are strictly adhered to at all times.
  • Coordinates interdepartmental shipment activity with Field Teams, Corporate Office, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Inventory Control, Warehousing, Procurement, etc. and ensures accurate interdepartmental chargebacks.
  • Project Management, Cost Reduction and Sourcing Strategy development
  • Oversee Ct-PAT program and committee/team to ensure CT-Pat compliance for the Fenton Missouri facility and work with Procurement on Supplier compliance.
  • Demand & shipment planning - ensure machine and chemical production meets shipping schedule/timing.
  • Research retail customer guidelines and implement progresses and procedures in advance to insure Rug Doctor meets all requirements avoiding penalties.
  • Complete all necessary forms and documents for international shipping. Make arrangements and set bookings for freight to be shipped by air freight or ocean vessels.
  • Prepare and provide accurate monthly freight accruals to AP.
  • Monitor transportation lanes and ensure timely transfer of goods between all facilities.
  • Monitor all storage charges to ensure container/trailers are scheduled and unloaded in a timely manner.
  • Travel may be required.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years Traffic experience

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of JDE business software
  • DOT requirements and Hazmat rules and regulations knowledge, a plus
  • Detail oriented with good basic mathematical aptitude
  • Good interpersonal/communications skills
  • Works well in a high-pressure, team environment
  • Learns quickly along with good memory retention
  • Ability to arrive at sound conclusions upon consideration of facts and alternatives, while effectively exercising discretion and independent judgement
  • Work overtime as requested
